The Suzan

By Lee Cahill

The Suzan are a high-energy, all-girl, Japanese, indie band that I saw at the “Brooklyn ❤ Japan” benefit at the Bell House this past weekend. Though I had no idea what any of the girls were saying, they were clearly all passionate about supporting their home country and they were adorable! Also, Japanese girls are soooo stylish.

This band takes the simplistic surf style and rockin bass lines of The 5.6.7.8’s along with the riot grrl, electro-punk sound of Le Tigre, and combines it with a small dose of jungle beats. You could check out their new album Golden Week For The Poco Poco Beat, but really this is a band that you need to see live. Their hyperactive dance moves and grooving beats will keep you dancing all night long! So, all you Brooklynites, please go see them at The Music Hall of Williamsburg (66 North 6th St Brooklyn, NY 11211) on April 30th.

Check out how stylish these Japanese girls are in their kaleidoscope video of “Home” below.
