Bell – DIAMONITE

By Lee Cahill

Once upon a time, I had a radio show at WKDU. One day the band Bell played a captivating live on-air set where they made an impromptu decision to use an empty water cooler jug as a drum and it sounded crazy good. Ever since that day, many of the station’s DJs and I have been anxiously awaiting their full length release AND IT’S FINALLY COMING OUT TOMORROW. Bell’s music combines the haunting vocals of St. Vincent with the indie-electro, bouncy beats of The Dirty Projectors and the ethereal, foreign vibe of Björk (well some of Björk’s music, she’s all over the place).

Please check out two songs from Bell’s new album Diamonite below and see them play live tomorrow (May 26th) at their record release party at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn.
